compared to many other hobyists, the amount of unpainted miniatures I own is limited. This is mainly due to a serious restraint in buying/accepting new minis and not starting new armies combined with a slow-and-steady approach to painting.
Ever since we moved together in a house (quite a few years ago) I have an agreement with the wife and myself and sticking to it keeps me sane:
Only a new (unpainted) miniature can enter the house if another has been painted or left the house. So in essence, the amount of unpainted miniatures can only remain the same level. This agreement has prevented me from impulse-buying so many miniatures and starting new armies once they come out.
My “starting position” of unpainted miniatures was already significant though, I guess somewhere between 200 and 300 and an -ahem- extensive bit box. This is okay, as it allows me to have several armies and projects going and allows me to take advantage of sale offers – only as long as I painted enough in advance, though!
whoopsie!
Over the years, this agreement worked, but somewhere I lost track. Back in July before going on another painting spree (that’s always a good moment, isn’t it?) I thought to start anew from stratch and keeping track through my blog this time.
So at the first of July, my amount painted was zero and the amount of new miniatures was also zero. Onwards to work!
Summer Painting
The below overview is my progress since then (in six weeks or so). Apologies for the lackluster picture, will post better ones soon!

The amount painted is:
- 15 GW flagelants
- 1 skeleton
- 7 zombies (plus a few I already painted)
- 2 dnd minis (not my minis, so they dont count)
for a grand total of 23 minis painted.
A sad premier
One miniature left the house in another -sad- way. I botched the paint job on a zombie model and before I could repaint it, it was crushed under my chair’s wheels. So, for the first time in years, I actually threw a miniature away.
Fortunately, I have zombies a plenty, so this is not really a thing. And this allows me to buy a new miniature one of these days!
Current score:
24 miniatures painted/left the building. None bought!
The current score might be something I’ll add to my hobby progress!
