Five years ago, I posted my first army wide photoshoot. The army page has been the most visited on this blog. Since then (2020), as I painted more and more miniatures, the army grew slowly but steadily. That’s why I made a new army page, here is the 2025 update!
As I posted five years ago, I’m really proud and happy with this army. The yellow-black contrasts great, and unlike other projects, this one is never finished. I even wrote some fluff for it!
Onwards to the pictures! Below is the army as a whole thereafter, I will post closeups.

The army is a human army. It’s mainly Kingdoms of Men (or league of Rhordia) but can also be fielded as Basilea. All models that could be fielded in this army have been included here!
Basilean contignent
The closeups start with the Basilean contignent.

On the far left side of my army are my three phoeni (Phoenixes?), two hordes of Elohi, a horde of Ogre Palace guard and a ur-elohi. Centre back is the monarch, who is also fielded as a high paladin on dragon in a Basilean army. Hidden behind the elohi, is my giant who has never been fielded in the last five year, so maybe he’s due for an appearance!
Here’s two more pictures of the titans:
Hidden on the far left is Tempest, a pegasus which may be my favourite model ever.

Cavalry
The cavalry contignent of my army is quite sizeable. Two hordes of knights (which can be divided into troops) and one more regiment. Furthermore, a horde of beast cavalry (elephants) which can be fielded as three war mammoths should I want to. The heavy cavalry sees play often, usually in my various Kingdoms of Men armies.
In the back are two regiments of light cavalry (converted from GW outriders) and another full regiment of 12 original outriders which are still on their original bases. I love the models, due to their versatility as they are highly convertable.

in front of the knights are a few different units. Leftmost the 2nd horde of ogre palace guard and next to them my first regiment of paladins (basilea)/foot guard (Kingdoms of men). In front are my mastiff units which usually represent gur panthers. I built three troops, and I they are present on the battlefield quite often.

More cavalry pictures from different angles:

Even more cav and the first of the infantry
This picture shows the the remainder of the cavalry along some infantry. Centre back is a unit of six pistoliers from my Warhammer days, seldomly used but still beloved due to the beauty of the sculpts. Next to that is my 6th and final regiment of knights.
In front of them are my oldest infantry. A horde of halberdiers and another horde of (still single based) various infantry from my warhammer and mordheim days. They have served as a horde of militia mob in my Kings of War armies. Both of these hordes I only field after all other options have been fielded as they were painted over two decades ago and they don’t look the way I want them.

Centre front are my rebased spearmen from Warhammer days, a unit that sees play a lot in my current pike-and-shot armies. The difference in quiality between the spearmen in front and the halberdiers in the back shows why I opt for these.
More infantry
Like infantry? Here’s more of them!

Alongside the previously shown units, here’s more: In the back (next to the knights) are my shield wall unit. It’s an old unit of rebased Warhammer swordsmen. Next to that are my oldest archers and in front of them are my newest archers. On the far right, a troop of handgunners are left over from when I built my recent horde which is featured on the picture below:

In both pictures, my recent Crossbowmen horde is shown as well. Moreover a few of my guns, but all of them together are displayed below:

As one can see, I own more war machines (three each of siege artillery, volley gun and balista and six (!) cannon.) than I would ever use. But it’s great to have enough guns to assault a casle with 6,000 points! The crew have been based either individually or on cavalry bases so that I can switch them between war machines as much as I want. On the far right is the master engineer that has been used in that role several times.
Forgotten in the far back is my old stean tank which theoretically can be fielded as a mammoth or chariot as the iron beast has been stripped from the Rhordia roster.

On the front of the infantry part of the army are my light infantry and my berserkers. Sadly, the picture is ow lowish quality, therefore here’s the original of the flagelants. On the left are my halberdier horde and regiment.

Finally, centre front are my horde and regiment of pikemen. Below them, in front is my horde of footguard/paladins for which I wrote a tutorial how to build the unit base.
To conclude the infantry section: below shows a gallery in which all these units are showns photographed from different angles.

Characters
The army features quite a few characters, from mounted wizards, generals on winged beasts and even a naked lady on a wet horse. All characters gathered below:

Point cost
Without any upgrades not shown on the model or magical items, the army above is slightly over 10,000 points. The two army lists (KoM and Basilea) can be found below.
So with upgrades, this army probably can touch 12k points or so.
And now (jan ’25):
This army has a tendency to grow over time. For örb Wars in Austria, I painted up a few hordes, my recent addition is the frostgrave archers and high abbess on a chartiot. There’s no plans for expanding currently, but who knows?
And maybe, in five years, I will rewrite this post again…..

Epic army shot. I’m guessing it started out as an Averland Empire army? Either way the black and yellow looks really good, especially over so many models!
