Pegasus cattle trade

Recently, I played a tournament. In the first game round, I played JP with a great dwarven army. JP also does Kingdoms of men and has a thing for oldschool Citadel miniatures. In particular my oldschool pegasus drew his attention.

It’s an oldschool GW high elven pegasus I got from GW mail order somewhere in the early 2000’s. I painted the model early in my carier and it’s been part of my army ever since.

That said, it’s not a particular practical model. Its large wings make actually placing the 50×50 in the table top a hassle and using multiple riders is a great idea in theory, but in practice the riders tend to fall off. On top of that, I use it nearly always as a wizard on pegasus anyway.

So when JP offered to buy the pegasus, I countered the offer by suggesting a trade for a new pegasus model. I saw both his dwarven and human army and they are painted to a very high standard, so I had all confidence that he could deliver. And why not trust a guy I’ve seen for the first time since we share a love for miniature wargaming?

So we agreed. He got my pegasus + the original rider (who rode in my knight horde – centre front here) and we agreed that he would build me a brand new wizard on a pegasus in my own army colours.

And oh boy, did he deliver. Only two weeks after the tournament, the mailman delivered my new flying horse. Armed with the boomstick, here’s my new magic guy:

JP used a firefore model as base, heavily converted. The model fits nicely on a 50×50 and in painted to a high level. Thanks man!

Here’s a few more pictures!

  1. Very cool conversion. I have to say I picked up the same peg last year but with the Empire hero mounted on it (released as an alternative to the elf). It was one of those models I wished I’d gotten when I was younger as I loved the Pegasus sculpt. I still want to also get the elf version too one day.
