With no pressure to finish anything, I find that my painting progress slows to a crawl. Not that I mind – I’m just painting whatever gets my fancy at the moment.
A few months ago, I had over 40 halberdiers printed and painted a test model. Content with the quality of the print and painting, I decided to paint enough of them for a regiment. Here they are:

There’s now 15 of them (14 new models) and they await basing. I will probably paint another 15 before progressing to that stage, but we’ll see.
Ogres
For my ambush ogre army, I painted a test model a few months back. During the last summer, I painted the same model in different colours, purple compared to blue.

I have not settled on a final colour scheme, but it’s probably gonna be blue.
Let’s face it, “Blue-gres” also sounds better than “Purplegres”. But still, it’s gonna be *only* 12 models. Promised…. Plus the one test model in purple of course.
Captain on pegasus
Ages ago (well, in january 2021, that is) I traded an oldhammer pegasus for a beautifully converted fireforge pegasus. The original oldhammer pegasus had three riders to be used in either of my armies as a captain and a wizard. (Warhammer pricing does that to you) While the yellow mage had been replaced by the conversion and the yellow captain by Tempest, this still left a lonely red-white captain. To be honest, I had forgotten about him, until I found the model a few months back while setting up the army.
Fortunately, I did buy the imperial sunland balthazar-gelt-ish STL a while back. Though I don’t need another half-gelt, I wanted a pegasus model for conversions, beast cavalry or a 3rd wizard on pegasus. Even since I didn’t get to this yet, the pegasus proved a great mount for my no-longer-lonely captain.

Mincers

I love the new Mantic Mincers. These are from the ambush set, which is a steal. Other than 40 goblins which can be built as either sharpsticks, spitters or rabble, the set includes two (two!) mincers. These can be built as either mincers or chariots, so the set includes two mawbeasts, each, too. The only caveat is that the mincer/chariots don’t include crew, but that’s where the 40 rabble come in!
Spoken about which, I painted five new goblins. Two mincer crew and three spare rabble.

Bookkeeping:
I painted 21 new miniatures
- 14 halberdiers
- 1 purple ogre
- 5 goblins
- one pegasus
The ambush set I bought is mainly (all excep thte two mincers) to be distributed to a new owner. Until that time, I acquired 50 new models. (40 goblins, two mincers and 8 mawpups). Other than that, I got my remaining 7 ogres.
Totaling:
- start 14
- painted +21
- new models -57
- Total = -22
I’m back in the red again, but in this case it’s just a matter of getting the goblins to a new owner. I bought an ambush set because the ambush set containted the 2 mincers I wanted and it was just as expensive as getting a 3-pack of mincers. The 48 goblins/mawpups are just extra.
