This is just a short hobby update. The Phoenix I pledged for Swordmaster’s Monster March has just gotten its first slabs of paint. Nothing fancy, but enough to warrant a (short) update.
I -frankly- adore the model. It’s both gorgeous and huge. Below the phoenix compared to a (already large sized” “28mm” Citadel model.
Painting the phoenix is a bit different of all other models I’ve painted in the last few years. Instead of painting dark-to-light, the fire-themed paint here is exactly the other way around. A bright yellow undercoat which is then painted in darker layers right over it.
It’s a good try-out for me. More WIP pictures below.
