Hobby update – fall 2024

It’s been a while since I posted on my blog. Life was busy and, frankly, after Örb Wars, I spent some time on other hobbies than Kings of War for a while.

Since then, I did paint some and this blog post tallies it.

Goblins

My goblin army expanded with a single chariot (counted as 5 miniatures, two crew, chariot and two beasts) and three crew to a arachnarok-spider-in-painting.

humans

I added two more regiments. My pikemen have 12 new additions and were based. The halberdiers were painted ages ago and I just painted them.

The idea is to create a new set of pictures for my army page as soon as the weather outside is dry and clear. Since the original pictures (2020) a lot of time has passed, so it’s about time for an update. To do so, I have a goal to base as many models as I can.

New plans

the new Clash of Kings book is out and I am eying an expansion of my ancient mostly negelected army. To start, I wanted some abyssal berserkers, but not the Mantic variety. These dragon ogres are a valid 3d printed alternative.

The right picture is them printed at 100%, 80% and 70%. I settled at 90% for size, but kept the 100% one as hero, based on the left.

Also, I got a new model for a abyssal titan, both able to represent the well of souls and the archfiend.

Painting tally:

A reoccuring part of this blog is the where I keep track of my minis waiting for paint, counting my number of newly accrued miniatures compared to those actually finished!

Painted on this page totals to 20 miniatures:

• 8 goblins (Chariot and 3 arachnok-crew)
• 12 pikemen

I got 4 new models (3 berserkers and one well of souls)

Finally, I cleaned out my painting pile of shame. These 38 models are clear, very brittle resin that’s a PITA to work with. (I painted the 15 halberdiers above and don’t want to work with this ever again)

Moreover, I built three goblin heroes for my brother’s KoW army, which ended up quite nice, I think.

I’m in the black again! Which is great, because I expect some new quasi-abyssal models anyday now. Until that time, I’ll finish that spider and the well of souls.
