Balista efficiency – hobby update

These weeks I painted up three sets of Balistas (and one more to give away). Moreover, I painted enough crew to use two of them in both of my human armies. To do so, I based the balistas without crew and then based the crew seperately. Here’s the same three balistas with either three of my yellow-black army’s crew of two of the white-red crew.

I am pretty happy how this turned out. Of course, painting up two additional balista’s wouldn’t have been that much work (and since they are 3d prints, they are virtually free), but I like this solution.

Other hobby projects:

My goblin army needs just a few more minis to be completed finally. This week I painted four luggits and a rabble. (the rabble is to switch out a GW gobbo in a horde to further me complete the 90% mantic model count). The luggits are 2 Mantic luggits and 2 converted rabble, and they need to fill out the 2nd regiment, which was still incomplete.

Here’s all the luggits combined: I really enjoy the red-and-bronze on the blue skins! I might even paint another regiment one day as they look great and are really fun to paint.

Another model that’s been on my painting table for too long is this Goblin king. He’s finally completed, so he can join my army too! He will replace my filler model (This one) in the formation, thereby completing one more objective for my goblin army.

To complete the army, I now “only” need my 2nd regiment of fleabags. They sit assembled on my painting table, to be finished (or better: started on) anyday now….

The final model that’s been finished recently is the 3d printed Sunland halberdier test model. (on the right in the picture below). He looks grand, I might even start painting the next batch of the 46 3d print I got recently….

Painting tally – in the black again

A reoccuring part of this blog is the where I keep track of my minis waiting for paint, counting my number of newly accrued miniatures compared to those actually finished! Last few weeks, I was “in the negative” due to the huge number of new models I got from my brother’s 3d print.

This week I only got 2 new balista. (since I gave one away last week and another this week, they needed replacements)

My painting achievements are:

  • 3 balistas (four painted total, but one I counted last week)
  • 10 crew (6 yellow-black, 2 red white (the others I counted last week) and 2 black-red to give away)
  • one goblin king
  • one sunland halberdier
  • four luggits and one rabble.

for a total of 20 miniatures

Totaling:

  • start -11
  • painted +20
  • new models -2
  • Total = 7

Back in the black again! I might even look forward to buying/printing new models, but first I need to finish those goblin riders. And perhaps a few halberdiers. Afterwards, we’ll se….
