Hobby – a naked woman on a wet horse.

And something on Lost Kingdom’s miniatures.

I finished a Lost Kingdoms swamp queen 3d print and I’m happy with the result. Lost Kingdoms made a pseudo-Brotherhood/Bretonnian set of 3d prints which have high quality and great poses!

The swamp queen pictures above is a naked woman on a water horse. I love the model, her pose and the fact that she’s naked without being over sexualized.

The lightning on the above picture is not great, making it look like she;s plastic, in reality the skin tone comes on quite nicely. I do love the result on this miniature.

Coming originally on a round 50mm circular base, I just managed to fit her on a cavalry base, so I can actually use her in games!

Lost kingdoms produces 3d print files and we bought the entire Kingdoms of Mercia set without friend group. I am really pleased with the quality of the models (though one needs a good printer to achieve the quality shown above) As I do not have any experience with the 3d printer, all thanks to André for this service.

the only disadvantage of this set is the size of the models. The models are of 32mm-size which is already significantly larger than the 28mm KoW scale.

The models don’t scale up well with Mantics, but even worse with true 28mm models like the Perry plastics.

As I intend to use the swamp queen as a character (probably some kind of witch), being slightly oversized is not really a problem. Also, as most cavalry models use horses that are too small compared to the rider (nost noticable in the GW range) it’s refreshing to have models with correct proportions.

BUT, the cool other models of the range are really huge. For instance, André is now looking if he can print the queen of Mercia in a way I can base her on a 75×75. This is not a given, so I might build my titan on a slightly bigger base. The king is so huge that his printer is too small to even print it, even in pieces. The model is so big that I *might* be able to fit the tower of the base on a 100×100 base. (and even then I need something done about the mount’s tail) If printed fully, the models base is around 250cm circular and the model is over 80 cm tall.

Playing Kings of War, I’d like to have a centerpiece, but a 25cm wide, 80 cm tall monster is too big. It will overshadow the battlefield, and not in a good way.

Other models and ranges

As soon as I am finished with the current projects (or have paused them due to loss of interest) I might paint a few bowmen and knights to see how they rank up to my other miniatures. I really love the model’s poses and layout, so I’m a fan!

Their other ranges (Pseudo forest kin/wood elves, twilight kin/darkelves, salamanders/lizardmen and empire of dust) look great too! This is the future of 3d printing!

Painting tally

I painted the swamp queen. One. Single model. Still not above the zero….

  • Start -4, painted one model.
  • total -3

  1. Some of my friends have some of the models and got them printed at a slightly smaller scale. The Green Knight model coming out of the tree (headless horseman style) is a phenomenal model.
