Introduction
As Covid still rages, the Netherlands are in lockdown. For our kings of War games, this stinks too, as little to no physical games are played. On the bright side, there’s a wonderful opportunity to take a little hobby time at the moment.
As soon as the lockdown ends, I’d like to start a new campaign using the Halpi’s rift campaign supplement. To get things rolling, it’d be nice to have our current hobby time impact the campaign.
This blog post gives a couple of suggestions for our game group to discuss.
campaign
The goal of the campaign is to gain as much Nexus Power as possible. The person who gained the most Nexus power at the end of the campaign wins.
Nexus power is gained in three ways:
a) Contributing in the overall campaign experience by:
- Writing fluff, army lists, etc. for your army
- Reporting battles (creating as much immersion as possible)
- painting/modelling for this campaign
All contributions must be in a public domain on the internet with links on the campaign page and/or the whatsapp group.
b) Playing (and epecially winning) battles and reporting them.
c) Winning hobby/gaming competitions
Organisation
The campaign is organised into five chapters:
- Preparation. This chapter lasts (at least) until the current visiting restrictions end. During this time, Nexus power can be gathered only by Hobby projects.
- three periods of time during which players can challenge each other for battles. Each of the Periods centers around one of the planes in the Halpi’s rift campaign book. Players are encouraged to post pogress and are awarded nexus points for these reports and of course, hobby contributions.
- The final (astral) plane chapter might be a fourth period or time, but maybe we can do a gaming day instead. We’ll discuss this when we get there.
The effects of Nexus power
Nexus power should both keep score in the campaign and give some (small) advantages in battle.
