Hobby update – september 20

A busy personal life (moving homes and a young family does that) does not bode well for hobby time. That said, I managed to sneak in some painting time.

Remember these pinky sigmarites? Well, I’ve found some time to actually paint them. Of course, they are converted like my other stormcast basileans as I do not like the original heads and normal GW heads combined with a bit of green stuff do wonders on them.

They were meant to be a 2nd horde of palace guards for my basileans (first horde here) but fate intervened. An old friend of mine invited me to try war cry in a few weeks’ time and I need a warband. It turned out that 5 models made a 1,000 point war band and I only had to paint a set of rockets to get them battle ready. So, this means that I keep them on rounds for now.

Flying pests

Other than that, I’ve been building flying pests from my bits box.

I’ve always wanted to paint some (wizards on) pegasi for my kingdoms of men army. They do fine chip damage, are only 75 points a pop and -as they are not individual- they make great chaff AND do do score.

Other than these wizz on pegs, there’s also that gorgeous tempest pegasus from Reaper which has been hovering (pun intended) in my painting box since march already.

So I gathered all the stuff I need for four pegasi, one captain and three wizards.

Tempest

First of all, Tempest is finally getting some paint now. As of this moment, the pegasus is nearing completion, while the cloth and rider need a lot of attention. I’d say this model is so beautiful, I can spend some time painting him.

I continue to love the model. Hopefully he’ll be done this time for real!

Other projects

Another WIP model is a wizard on pegasus. The pegasus has already two riders, a captain from both of my armies. As the rider isn’t glued to the model, converting a free company model to a wizard was a quick fix.

He’s just WIP, as he’ll be getting shades and highlights before being finished.

The other models will feature here one time probably. One is a Balthazar Gelt model and the other is a reaper bones dragon whelp with a GW bretonnian damsel.
