This is a long-overdue hobby post about my painting endeavors. Remember that I posted about the reaper bones griffon shortly after Christmas? if not, here’s my last picture of the beast:

I love reaper bones material. It’s easy to work with (hot and cold water) as you can see, I repositioned the whole beast and I bent the wings.
Furthermore, it’s very sturdy as breaking a reaper bones model is not easy. This model has been dropped -twice- without any meaningful damage, just one flake of chipped paint.
As for painting him, I chose a palette of browns after the previous one was black-and-grey. Starting at a black undercoat, I layered up to leather brown, the darker colours on the bottom part of the mini, lighter colours on the upper parts. The wing tips eventually got highlighted up to bonewhite. The model is shaded with a blend of black and brown ink which turns out nicely, but tends to be a bit shiney on the recesses. (which appear as white blots when photographed with some kind of flash)
The guy one top is just a GW (it’s most definately not luthor huss) guy I got in one of my ebay armies. as I’ve never actually used him, I just noticed Ghal Maras when I was paiting him. Anyhow, In Panithor, it’s just a funky warhammer and the guy is a general on winged beast.

And beasts they are. I own two now ( <- other one on the right ) and they tandem extremely well. At 190 points and 7 attacks, they gor buffed quite a bit from KoW2 and they were somewhat mandatory even then.
My army list uses 2 and I’m considering a 3rd instead of the giant, which has not been tested due to lack of a model.
Other project
I’ve also finished another (small) project. As I own a captain on a pegasus (leftmost picture), I also want a pegasus for my other human army. (for mirror matches). The two pegasusses (Pegasi?) I own are one-of-a kind pegasi that I want to spend some effort painting, so they go into my main army.
I concluded that, If I painted up another rider, I could use the above pegasus for both armies. The red-and-white dude in mirror matches and the yellow-and-black guy if I need a pegasus in my main army. Of course, this only works when I paint up my 2nd (and possibly 3rd) peg for my main army.

Here’s the new rider in close up:
There’s alot of green stuff on him, as the original plastic model has been damaged quite a bit when stripped of the paint, I think he’s recovered nicely.
I do love the white splits in the clothing. Make the model really stand out, something one can do with a hero.
As for the unpainted (as of yet) pegs: It’s either
Of which I like the Tempest model best. Gelt may turn up sometime in the future as a peg-wiz. Also, there’s still that phoenix to paint!
