My previous blog post showed my most recent project, the restoration of ancient models in order to build a horde of arquebussiers. This time, the unit is finished:

As you can see, the horde can be fieldes as two regiments and four troops respectively, making it a very versatile unit. In order to complete the unit, I painted a single ancient handgunner. He’s the one hiding in the 2nd row!
The rest of the models are rescues from my Warhammer days. I’m glad they can see some action now!
A new horde project
I’m going to try a pike and shot type army. For this to work, I need actual pikes. I built a regiment one time (a long time ago) but I wanted hordes. First, just start with a single one and as I already own a regiment, I only need a handful of new models. Here are the new additions: (12 new pikemen, an officer and a drummer). After this picture, I painted two doppelsoldner (double-handed swordsmen) to support the regiment for a total of 14 new models.

The end result is pretty nice:
As you can see, the pikemen (28 in four ranks of seven) are led by an officer on a watch tower, the drummer and the two doppelsoldner. As i will field them only in the horde below, the unit is in one piece, which was kinda nice to build!

To conclude, i painted a single test model from my new frostgrave minis. On the right is my first sisterhood scout.
Painting tally:
A reoccuring part of this blog is the where I keep track of my minis waiting for paint, counting my number of newly accrued miniatures compared to those actually finished!
- start 4
- painted +16
- one new arquebussier
- 10 new pikemen, officer, drummer, 2 doppelsoldner
- test model for my sisters
- 8 new models:
- I received the sails for my Armada models, which now total to 4 ships
- I received two new chariots and two sawtooth models (which will be pulling one of them)
- Total +12
as I have completed my goals for this time, I will probably be starting on a few sisterhood models and maybe my custom-built abbess on a chariot!
