It’s been a while since I posted a hobby update. During Christmas Break (almost three weeks ago at this moment) I spent some time painting, since then barely.
The first thing to be finished was my Blue-gre army. My army lacked two regiments of warriors, which I finished. I built them so they combine as a horde and magnetized the two regiments.

The blue skin for my ogres works extremely well and I’m almost sad this project is done. Expect an army page for my ogre ambush army soon-ish!

After finishing my ogres, I restarted my goblins. In the new Clash of Kings book, spearmen got a significant points reduction, and goblin sharpsticks got cheaper likewise and they can be buffed by the “sharpest stick” which is an upgrade for a goblin biggit!
Enough reason to paint another horde, spear-gobs this time. Here you see the first two test models, one greybrown-to-white the other greybrown-to-yellow. The white taint won out and I started painting a new horde: The retinue of Lupp, the Leaden Lion, a goblin warlord of (no) small renown!
Centre front is Lupp, the others are four additional models of his new retinue. The idea is to choose the heaviest-armoured goblins from the set and combine them with the heaviest helmets and the large shields. Lupp is, of course, heavily converted using GW knight bits and a pavise shield from Perry’s mercenary set.

Here’s an additional six goblins bringing the total to eleven. the other model was a model that’s been in my painting tray for too long, so I finished him. He’s and old GW free companyman.

Painting tally:
A reoccuring part of this blog is the where I keep track of my minis waiting for paint, counting my number of newly accrued miniatures compared to those actually finished!
- start 13
- painted +13
- 5 ogre warriors
- 11 lupps’ retinue goblins, 1 yellow test model
- 1 GW free company model.
- +2 exit two models. I gave two models away to my daughters to paint. (an ancient GW handgunner and a 3d print that I had laying around for ages)
- And no new models
- Total: 33
I’m going strong with painting the Leaden Lion Retinue (11/30), so that’s gonna continue. Between these, I started painting an Armada Basilean Dictator and a historical gun crew. All of these will be finished eventually, before starting new projects. Who knows what brings me after this time?
