Slow-grow painting plans

Two of my friends have started a slow-grow. This is a grand idea as most of us have models laying around for multiple armies, but these tend to “disappear” in the back of the closet.

the idea is as follows: (I just copy the post here from our whatsapp group)

  • We start a new-ish army
  • We’ll start with 500 points (ambush) points aiming for the Christmas break
  • After that we’ll expand by 250 points every so often.
  • Aiming for a 750 point “Ambush day” end of january or mid february.

My contribution

I have decided both to join and to cheat a little. Why cheat? Because I’ll be bringing in my Bluegres. (Blue ogres). Ogres just need a few models, so it’ll be devilishly easy to paint.

Moreover, we own the Northern Ogres STL’s. This set is a almost-warhammer set of STL’s for 3d printing which includes models for warriors, beserkers, gunners, characters and cavalry.

This army will both be easy to paint AND cheap to get. What’s not to like? Finally, I already have two models painted, the ogre hunters on the right, which is my very first regiment!

The army list

Last summer, I posted a 12-model ambush list for ogres (750 points). This is precisely the army I’ll be aiming for.

Clash ’24 changed this army only a little. The warlock got 5 points more expensive, the hunters 5 points cheaper. In the end, the army remains the same.

Now, for my first 500 points, i’ll need the following:

The warlord model will be downgraded to a bully (with elite) since I cannot get the 5 points more except by downgrading the hunters to warriors. And since the hunters are the single unit which is already finished, that’s out. So for the first battles, my warlord will need to earn his warlord-status by bullying his enemies!

The good (no bad and ugly this day!)

The good news is that I only need to paint 5 more models! 3 warriors, a warlock and a bully/warlord model! Since I already started the warlock, this is gonna be an attainable goal!
