Whoopsie, I skipped a week in the painting challenge. Actually, I only skipped writing this blog post, not the painting to much!.
Last week, I got my first layer of paint on the start model. This week, I nearly finished the above model. It only needs highlights, a base, crew (in progress too) and assembly.

The other models are not that far yet. Fortunately, I got the missing pieces (wheels) so my model is finally completed. There’s them, so I can actually finish them.
I decided to build both models first, then start painting the 2nd while the first dries out and leave the 3rd until last. That way, I;ll have at least one, but maybe even two finished in this painting challenge.
Here are both models build and ready for primer. I had to pillage all barrels from my bits box, even stealing two from my dungeon saga set.

The first is dark brown (as seen above) and I wanted the 2nd and 3rd a lighter shade of brown. The reason being that though I really like the model as above, when playing games, I love brighter models.
That’s one of the strange things of tabletop wargaming. Up close, darker colours and blended shadows are really beautiful, but on the tabletop, these really don’t show. For this reason, I like my first maypup launcher (left) better, while on the tabletop, the 2nd (right) is much brighter and stands out a lot.

This is why I am going to paint the 2nd a much lighter tone and if this works, I will do the same with the 3rd.
Now only the crew: There’s four now, halfway finished.

Till next week!
