Hobby Update – Fanatics

Yesterday, I posted a recent “models painted” update, but found the picture utterly lacking. I promised then to supply better pictures.

This blog post does exactly that, post my “work in progress” pictures of my fanatics regiment.

The models are GW flagelant models that I got as part of a collection a few years back. I always meant to paint them “one day”, which turns out to be this summer.

As with the rest of the army, the colours are yellow-black, but for the fanatics, I opted for mainly black.

As black is a PITA to highlight and shade (as shading black is impossible and highlighting easily turns it into a grey blend), I chose a blackbrown base layer shaded with black ink. (this is about the only time I use black ink). Then I edge highlighted the models with beast brown, creating a black that I really like.

The black clothing compliments the yellow clothing details and the bone white accessories. As the models have ample skins, this is about the only time a predominantly black clothed model actually works.

As with most of my models, the fanatics are going to be multibased into regiments of 15. As the multibase is currently under construction, this will be part of a future update.

More pictures below.

The blueish sorceress on the final picture is a dnd model that I painted for a friend along with the fanatics. She’s just part of the painting queue and does not have anything to do with this project or Kings of War in general. She’s a 3d print I got from said friend.

Current painting tally

As i posted the amount yesterday, there’s no changes. The current Tally is:

  • 24 miniatures painted/left the building.
  • None bought!

So it’s 24 positive!
